The real horses of Raven Hill now have their own children’s book series.
Scarlett and Kashmir aren’t just the stars of our breeding program — they’re also the heart of the Raven Hill Horse Adventures, a children’s book series written by Matt and Freya Lehman and published by Synaptic Energy Publishing.
Book 1 follows Scarlett and Kashmir through a full day at Raven Hill. Young readers meet Scarlett first — her chestnut coat, her flowing mane, and the feathered legs that make Gypsy Vanners so instantly recognizable. Then they meet Kashmir, her smoky-black filly-daughter, a curious and energetic young horse who gallops through dandelions, naps in the soft green grass, and tucks herself into her stall as the sun sets over the farm. Every spread introduces real horse vocabulary — feathers, blazes, paddocks, salt blocks — in language a young child can follow and remember.
Every illustrated page in the book is paired with a coloring page of the same scene, so children can color Scarlett and Kashmir in their own way. The ePub edition includes a link to download and print the complete coloring page set, so young readers can bring the whole adventure to life on paper at home.
The book closes with a real photograph of Scarlett and Kashmir together at Raven Hill — a reminder that these aren’t just storybook characters. They live here, and their adventures are real.

Kashmir
Kashmir is Scarlett’s smoky-black filly-daughter and a bundle of joy. Like her mama, she is a Gypsy Vanner, with a bright white blaze on her face and shaggy white feathers on her legs. Kashmir loves to explore the paddock and discover new things every day — galloping through dandelions, greeting bluebirds, and dreaming of new adventures every night.
Scarlett
Scarlett is a beautiful chestnut Gypsy Vanner mare with a shiny reddish-brown coat, a flowing brown mane, and fluffy feathers over her hooves. She is strong and powerful, calm and gentle, and she loves to be around people. Scarlett lives at Raven Hill with her filly-daughter, Kashmir — and her steady, loving presence is the warm heart of every adventure.
